It gets pretty annoying. Sometimes I will kind of lose hearing in one ear for a minute with this high pitched sound and then it clears up after a few minutes.
I probably have some hearing loss from listening to loud music in headphones for too many years, but I can otherwise hear normally.

im lucky though. i never used earplugs and went to some pretty risky shows where I stood right next to speakers. iirc i had to sign a waiver at the venue to see mbv in like 2013

I get the same thing from time to time. The only time I know it's fatal is when people commit suicide because of it.

Not being fat, per se, but I'm guessing you eat quite a lot of fast food and therefore most likely get too much salt? This can play havoc with the pressure and balance of fluids in your inner ear. Reduce your salt intake, stop eating McDonald's, and try increase stuff like fresh fruit & vegetables. Get your doctor to prescribe a course of bisoprolol fumarate which will help with your high blood pressure, as well as reduce stress-related symptoms.

I want control over how it happens. If you do it yourself you can plan and ensure it's quick and comfortable and that your affairs are in order. I don't want to go out hooked up to machines and senile or rotting away in some nursing home.
It's a difficult thing to explain. I'm not suicidal but I can see a certain logic to ending your own life under the right circumstance.
