It's comforting to have something familiar to fall back upon, for example, bush might not have been behind 9/11 but why not think about it on daily basis? It would mean focusing on something that is not so bad to focus on, compared to many other things at least.

Justifying yourself doing, saying, or thinking a thing by comparing it to a worse imaginary thing is pretty lame. That just sounds like making excuses. You'll be able to justify doing pretty much anything with that logic because you'll always be able to dream up something worse. Saying "at least X isn't Y" is just fooling yourself into rationalizing whatever you want to do.
Comparing stuff to the worst thing you can think of isn't a high bar to clear.

I think you're reading a little too much into what I said though. What I'm "just saying" is that obsession obviously has its purpose and it ain't no bad thing by default.

I know exactly what you mean. Whenever I go through something tough in my life, it's very comforting to stalk Matt. I've been doing it for so long now, it just brings a sense of familiarity and routine.
