I've no idea if he is or isn't the patron saint of bowel issues (I'll defer to your literally undoubted expertise on that subject; I Googled it and came up with nothing), but to the essence of the question: all the saints are venerated. That's why they're saints.

I know who he is, as a historical person. I just couldn't find any citation that he's the patron saint of bowel disorders (not that I especially care, and hence I made only cursory research). Thank you for the info.

No problem, I was just linking sources that referred to him as the patron saint of bowel disorders. They're not the best of sources, admittedly.
