When I click on the new posts link on the Catherine shit thread I get placed at the top of the thread...not at the new posts.

When you click on the 'new' link, does it load the page with "#reply_1059270" (or similar) in the URL? If it does, but doesn't place you at that reply, it's a browser issue; it should take you to the relevant reply and highlight/focus it.
If it doesn't, what does the URL look like when you click and visit the thread?
