Yeah, like you, I strongly and sincerely believe that anyone who is wealthy enough to own multiple pieces of real estate cannot be elected president. There would be too many conflicts of interests and attempts to host government events at properties owned or operated by that person.

Not only is orange man good, but conversely, democrat bad. It's a very nuanced and complex worldview that you in your liberal elitist bubble would not understand. This is why Trump won.

Haven't most of the presidents been wealthy before taking office?

Fake anon !ZkUt8arUCU replied with this 6 years ago, 39 minutes later, 1 hour after the original post[^] [v] #1,058,217

@previous (Kook !!rcSrAtaAC)
Most yes. Carter was famously not that wealthy, and was one of the first members of his family to graduate high school. President Truman went bankrupt and to save him from humiliation Congress set up a Presidential pension. Obama assumed office still with student loan debt iirc. Trump is far and away the richest person to ever be elected president though.

I mean, no other president ever had the government spend taxpayer dollars at his own golf course so that he could golf all day, or host international events at struggling resorts he owns to boost their popularity and revenue, or own several hotels that foreign dignitaries will rent out to curry favor with him over issues of national interest, etc.

And America was a better place when Carter was in office...perhaps there were some economic challenges but noones had to say-

'Ohhhh it's perfectly fine for Johnny to have two daddies' or 'Trannies are good decent people who deserve respect'

or be faced with national shaming on CNN..

Do you think rich people ever hit a point at which they don't actively want to earn more money? I don't. Trump and his kids also don't.
@1,058,244 (A)
Graft? He wrote books and is in demand generally because he's a very popular former president. There is no graft needed to explain why he's wealthy.
@1,058,246 (A)
It's not "free" because he was working for a living. Also there are expenses while president too lol. They have to pay for all the food prepared by the WH kitchen etc. It's not a free ride

I don't want to be reductive but I can't help like your entire political outlook just boils down to being mad that a black guy got elected president and that gays got the right to marry. Which is a bad foundation for a worldview.

He'd have been about as popular as John Kerry..

There's a fundamental question that you always dodge answering but which you should if you want your rants about American 'greatness' to be taken seriously: why won't you get a job?

That's him being smart. I'll bet that other Presidents would have done the same if they owned such properties. I don't even like Trump and I'm saying this.
Presidents spend tons of taxpayer dollars to kill brown people in other countries, and so this other type of thing means nothing to me

Would it shock you to learn that other presidents probably considered such things to be illegal?

> That's him being smart.
Plenty of politicians have used their office to funnel taxpayer money into their businesses preferentially. "Being smart" isn't usually the phrase that appears in court documents to describe that practice.

Why is that illegal but not killing so many people?
Still, I don't care

I get that you generally approach politics as if simply being elected to office is cause to think someone is a corrupt pedo or whatever. But the things you choose to get outraged about and the things you choose to adopt a legal and moral nihilism toward are a little baffling at times.
