truncate posts after 50 replies
page two page three so we don't have insane topics like t04str ones

What if it were a truncated 'page-down' kind of feature, though? Like a small arrow at the bottom to get to more posts after 50 or so. Citations to previous replies would just scroll up like they usually do, but other portions of the thread would be hidden otherwise. Any conflict there?

The most I would consider is hiding posts for topics with +50 replies, and then using Ajax to load more replies as one scrolls down.
