Syntax has written some famous ghost stories. I remember reading one where the protagonist, Mango R. Mullins, falls asleep on Christmas Eve and is visited in turn by the ghost of obsession past, the ghost of obsession present, and the ghost of obsession future. Each time the ghost appears as a dancing, cackling old man showing poor Mango the error of his ways. In the end, Mango awakes on Christmas morning a changed man who repays all his debts and forsakes his obsessions to live a generous and blameless life ever after. It's very inspiring.
