Attention is bad when it rewards bad behavior.

Giving people attention is only wrong when:
∙ The attention only reinforces dangerous or destructive behavior
∙ The person is deliberately trying to keep you from paying attention to other, more important things.
∙ The person in question is DM.

I don't understand but I do like that dot you used as a bullet point. It looks neat.

Giving attention to issues, if they are important, is never wrong. One should not ignore a call for help. If they're just doing stupid shit like planking or something, then they can be ignored.

There is a very real difference between attention wanting and attention needing. When a person seeks attention it is important to recognise which it is and act accordingly.

There is nothing wrong. If someone has a problem, help them out. Pay attention to them. Listen. You might be the only one who doesn't ignore them and write them off as seeking attention. You could save their life.
You could also dismiss them and a year or two later be one of the people standing around going "who would have thought she was actually going to do it."
If the attention-seeking behavior is dangerous, it's possible to show someone they don't need to do that to get social interactions. Ignoring a problem rarely makes it go away. Things can escalate and often do.
