They're going to look even worse than ever.

Why has "Liberalcrat" been coined as a slur? The suffix 'crat' means an advocate of a particular form of governance. There's no difference between 'Liberal' and 'Liberalcrat'. Is it to imply that Democrats are also liberals? This is obvious, no?

They have tainted the meaning of democracy.

Yes, please stop calling them "liberalcrats". It is dumb and weird and redundant.

Ok, but my point is that adding 'crat' to the word 'liberal' doesn't change anything, it would be like saying 'conservativecrat' instead of 'conservative'. There's a reason the former doesn't exist and it's because they both mean the same thing, i.e someone who believes in conservatism.

@OP
What would they apologize for? "Sorry the Republicans you dumb shits voted for have fucked our system so hard that we can't take action against a blatantly corrupt official"?

does op have any brain cells. Liberalcrat can't be a word as it has the exact same meaning as liberal. Second off impeaching trump is extremely high on quite a few people's priority, as Trump is most likely the worst president we have ever had.

No it doesn't. "-crat" comes from κράτος (krátos = power). So X-crat means power belonging to X / rule by X, e.g. Democrat: δῆμος (dêmos = the people) + crat = power belonging to the people.

Liberal on its own just means free. Liberalcrat means rule by the free.

Technically, since liber is Latin and kratos is Greek, Liberalcrat is a hybrid word (like television) so if you're a purist, the correct term would be lefterocrat.

> Liberal on its own just means free.

When capitalised into a proper noun (as OP did in his thread title), it doesn't "just mean free", it means an adherent of the political philosophy known as liberalism (often a member of a Liberal party). Therefore there is no practical difference between 'Liberal' (as used by OP) and 'Liberalcrat' (as coined by him).

You started off by discussing the etymology of the suffix 'crat' and got it wrong (it does not mean 'an advocate') but I guess that comes as no surprise, since you know nothing about Greek or Latin). Now you have inserted the word "practical" into your argument, thereby shifting the goalposts. You're not very good at this, are you father?

https://en.m.wiktionary.org/wiki/-crat

"An advocate of a specified form of government."

You look a bit silly now don't you? Here's a tip about etymology: you don't just chop words up into their different parts and look at them out of context.

> but I guess that comes as no surprise, since you know nothing about Greek or Latin).

Such delicious irony. How many times is it that you've had your ignorance on this subject exposed by me? I make it about 4.

> Now you have inserted the word "practical" into your argument

Because when coining a new term like "Liberalcrat" and wrongly claiming (as you did) that there is a difference in meaning, it helps to point out that no, in fact, there is no difference. Only to someone like yourself, completely ignorant of Latin, Greek and the subject of etymology, is there a difference.

You're not very good at this, are you child?
