Thankfully next week I'll be working out of town, so they'll put us up in a motel not far from the site so i can sleep in

If you deal with the visa for me! I'm subscribed to a listserv for archaeo contracts in the US and there are loads but I don't imagine a company would want to sponsor someone for a contract like that? Idk how any of it works tbh

I don't know anything about the American archaeological scene! I just googled and apparently it's a pretty big hassle to work as an archaeologist in the US as a foreigner, which makes sense for a specialized field with like low/average starting pay. You may just be stuck in Canadia unless you get (un)lucky.

Yeah that seems like the most likely way to get a visa. Have you considered hiding in her suitcase and making it to America that way?
