Why did they need to know? This was a top secret mission, organised by adults who knew the importance of staying as tight-lipped as possible. The Democrats have demonstrated over and over again that they are against anything Trump does in principle. Almost certainly some fool would have got confused and leaked the information to the wrong people (i.e. somebody with connections to ISIS). In any major operation like this, the fewer people that have to know the details the better. Anyway, nobody but Trump & possibly one or two more people knew all the details.
This would be like Sam Rayburn complaining during WW2 that he hadn't been notified of the details of the D Day landing, but the UK, France and the rest of the allied army generals had. They are being fucking ridiculous.

What's absurd? If you're trying to tell me that in a mission like this, the need for utmost secrecy on the part of the commander in chief of the armed forces is absurd then you're either very naive or you're trolling.
Also, you do realise, right, that if you want to conduct a big military operation which involves moving troops, planes and equipment across foreign territory, that you kind of have to get permission to do so from the foreign power? Trump not telling Putin and other anti-ISIS leaders that he was about to do something (and it's not like he gave any details either, which demanded a great deal of trust from them) would have been extremely foolish.
