Republicans then held views very similar to those of modern Democrats, and Democrats then held views very similar to those of modern Republicans. I don't expect you to care though, because you're only interested in seeing "your team" win rather than holding any actual opinions of your own.

The Democratic Party started in the 1820s

First of all, the entire basis of this pasta is bullshit, aside from the obvious misinformation and half-truths, because none of it describes the parties switching ideologies. It's almost as if the author doesn't know what the word "switch" means. Secondly, the part you highlighted really only backs up my point, does it not? You shouldn't be saying "oh they called themselves Republican, that means they're on my team!" You should be instead concerned with the individuals' actual views and ideas.
