Recently, trump did address the persecution of Chinese Muslims by the Chinese government. I can only see this as a huge shift in his policies because one of the goals was to deal with China economically and keeping quite (about the Muslim persecution) as a diplomatic favor was the reason he was so quiet about it, but suddenly this has changed and i think it marks the beginning of increased hostility between the two nations.
