Topic: visualizing random walks in three dimensions

This is a neat video with pleasant background music and soft narration. Watch computer animated paths are drawn in three dimensions. He remarks that we see zones of crowding or local exploration, with occasional movements to new areas to do more local exploration. I would say that the effect is expected, as random travel should keep you close to your present position most of the time, as moving far away requires the rarer event of heading off in the same direction for a significant number of steps. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7A83lXbs6Ik

I found a page that makes lots of simultaneous walks and calls them worms. Your mouse position affects speed and thickness. Higher for slower, lower for faster, lefter for skinnier, righter for fatter. http://nylki.github.io/paintingworms/

I think he could have afforded to make some graphs at the end where he could have aggregated statistics about clustering and percentages of space explored across many many runs. Neat video nonetheless. I wonder if he used Mathematica to make it or if he used something else.

NASA has an AR thing on their website, where you can walk around simulations of exoplanets.

Oh that's cool. I'll have to check it out.
Ooooh once I get my projector set up I could try that on a BIG screen!

The last site I worked at was a lovely lush green riverside park that they were covering with cement. Made me sad.

No, it's still a park, but now it will have > a concrete promenade, a steel and wooden pier, a water game
No swimming tho until they decontaminate the sediment.

"Water game" sounds disconcertingly vague. It's like saying the new park will have "a ball game". What kind of game? Have they not figured it out yet? Is it supposed to be a surprise?

just an awkward translation. I believe it refers to a small water-park type thing, they're pretty common around here.
