@OPauper
Whyfor can't you afford the perfectly reasonable asking price of high quality maple syrup, praytel?

Because I'd rather have honey on my crumpets.

Most "normal syrups" are caramelized sugar water. Maple syrup only comes from maple tree sap. If you want to eat sugar water on your pancakes, then go for it.

I love maple syrup. It is not a common product in holland, your secret santa will be receiving quite an exotic gift. (although specialist shops will stock it.) Dutch stroop is usually made from sugar beets but stroop made from apples or pears is widely available too. stroop is thicker and is not tasty compared to maple syrup.
