Topic: what is the carbon footprint of an edible baby?

Anonymous A started this discussion 6 years ago #92,230

Should they be farmed, or harvested from planned parenthood?

Fun fact; The leader of the Caananite pantheon El, who was syncretised with Yahweh to form the God of the Israelites, required child sacrifices.

That is a fun fact. It would explain the story of the trial of Abraham. Why did we stop requiring child sacrifices again?

It was part of a backlash against the other gods of the pantheon (such as Baal), they were portrayed as evil beings because they wanted the child sacrifice.

In the OT when they talk about not going to the "high places", that's because the caananite gods lived on the tops of certain mountains and altars were often raised on them

Also the story of the exodus wasn't written until long after the fact, and during the time it was supposed to have happened, YHWH as a monotheistic king of the cosmos wasn't actually a concept.

Do you have a book you recommend on this subject? I've been meaning to get into the early Canaanite religions as a way to better understand the Torah within the context of the region.
