Topic: Is there not a fucking conference call service you can use that doesn't involve URLS and shit??

beckyderp !DONgSbOYdw started this discussion 6 years ago #91,702

I just need a CONFERENCE CALL NUMBER with a PASSCODE to give to people. I don't want to send them URLs to click on and shit. I want a NUMBER that they CALL with a PASSCODE.

This is probably easy to find but I have next to no patience.

Please help thanks.

I remember they used to have one where participants would dial a 1-800 number and enter an access code to join the call.

There's probably a way to set this up in Google Voice. If you don't already have a Google Voice account set up, then this will not be a time saver. There are conference call and partyline apps that are supposed to work that way. Their functionality may differ depending on your platform and the number of people you want on the call.

Can we have a Minichan Partyline when you figure this out?

That's what I'm looking for! I just want it to be easy for a court, other attorney, etc., to just call that number instead of getting some link or something.

Okay, I'm trying UberConference, which looks good.

Yeah a notice would go out saying "the conference call will be Tuesday at 4:30 dial 1-800-867-5309 and enter code 12345 to join the call" and you could do it from any phone - cell phone, landline, VOIP, whatever.

They still offer it oddly enough: https://www.conferencecalling.com/toll-free

I think web conferencing replaced it because it's a lot cheaper and usually the sound quality is a lot higher plus you have the ability to do things like video and presentations with slides.

is clicking a link too difficult for most in the legal professions

It's an unnecessary step if you're just doing a phone call. I think the judge on this case is like 70.

maybe if they can't manage to click on a link they probably shouldn't be deciding who broke the law and what not

That's not what a judge decides.

I am imagining the scene now. The irritable and confused Becky is shouting at a URL she needs to make a phone call. Meanwhile, far away, an elderly judge is confused and terrified by the underlined string of numbers and letters he has been sent. He then has a coughing fit which causes him to die.

I had pictured the judge trying to enter the URL first on the photocopier, then the fax machine, then putting Becky on hold to call up the mailroom and ask if they had got any URLs in that day.
