Only an Idiot like Yang thinks people will fall for a Chicken in Every Pot. Except that line did work years ago.

This is what Ching Chang proposes 'The Freedom Dividend':

What is the Freedom Dividend?
The Freedom Dividend is a form of universal basic income (UBI), a type of social security that guarantees a certain amount of money to every citizen within a given governed population, without having to pass a test or fulfill a work requirement. Every UBI plan can be different in terms of amount or design.

Andrew Yang is running for president as a Democrat in 2020 to implement a guaranteed income. This form of basic income that he is proposing for the United States is a set of guaranteed payments of $1,000 per month, or $12,000 per year, to all U.S. citizens over the age of 18. Yes, that means you and everyone you know would get $1,000/month every month from the U.S. government, no questions asked

That's 1000 dollars a month for 207,000,000 people every month.
Add that up..

Multiply that by 12 months...AND then-

Look up what the budget is now per year and add that number to it.

Liberalism IS a mental disorder

Just the 1000 bucks per month for ONE year is- $2,484,000,000,000

Multiply that by 10 years-

$22,840,000,000,000

And that's not counting the usual Budget!

STUPID!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No I did not not. However this is what I know-

The discretionary amount is in place to ensure we can deal with an emergency.

Quit quoting half the data like the liberals.

Not a UBI fan but the theory of it is that it would replace a lot of social welfare spending already on the books like SNAP so it would "cost" only the difference between existing programs and this program.

I dont think it would necessarily go down like that.

A 1000 a month with one or more kids qualifies you for Snap.

I mean if the Government is giving someone who is making 0 dollars a month and has three kids like 300 or 400 dollars a week in SNAP benefits and only giving the other guy who is making 0 dollar dollars a month and has no kids 198 in SNAP benefits...are they really going to drop all SNAP and give them both the new 'income' of 1000 each? I dont know.

People rightly or wrong criticize SNAP benefits now...imagine the uproar when people have to go to work all who make 20,000 - 50,000 or of course more...and the Goverment starts handing the ones not willing to work 250.00 a week no questions asked...to the tune of huge tax increases on the ones who work.

A Xiao Long/Schnee ticket may prove more fruitful, as Weiss has a political background. Then again, so does Blake, just not on as grand a scale as Weiss.

I don't know how exactly he plans to handle the cutting end of it but I should stress that the $1000/mo is going to all adults, including the people working to pay for the program. It's not just a handout to the poor.

I don't know if Yang wants to mire her campaign in corporate contributions and accusations that the Schnee Dust Company is just using the office to further their business interests. Blake would bring in some grassroots support and really make it a ticket for change.

Anonymous D replied with this 6 years ago, 3 minutes later, 8 hours after the original post[^] [v] #1,041,184

I mean...fuck..

I'd be pretty damn happy if they'd start send me 250 a week. But such a plan is definitely not fiscally responsible and is a terrible ide for the country.

In a better world it put a huge dent in the millions of homeless people's worries if the addictions prevalent in that culture wernt present...if we could afford to do it. But...its just not gonna work no way no how.

Maybe somehow they could make a plan that would cost less and instead of money being handing out it could go for housing for the homeless...but would Bureaucracy screw it up?

Handing out cash totaling several trill a year just is a horrible idea in that there is a certainty that a huge percentage will not be used for anything but unproductive means. And it replaces SNAP...which we all know is abused how many more children will suffer when there are no guidelines in place at all with how the money is spent?

No way it can not be a disaster as far as I can see.

Yes...and the enormous amounts I quoting did not include citizens under 18.

I'll tell you...I dont think it's a stretch at all to think if The Democrats gain total control of both houses of Congress and the Presidency that they would definitely be pushing for all the illegals to get the 1000 a month also...and you can imagine how that idea makes me cringe.

I don't get the impression that people like Bert think too deeply about these things. I'm sure he'll be happy as long as he has someone to make sexual remarks about.

I don't know, guys. In today's politics, a colourful personality seems to get you as far as (if not further than) experience.

A Xiao Long/Valkyrie ticket would get way more attention, and Nora's boisterous and straight-talking personality would ensure a loyal following.
