That is awkward. You don't want to just come out and say, "Hey, aren't you dead?"
They shamble up to you and you have to hedge around the topic. "Do you want to go for... brai- beers? Beers. I was gonna say -I meant to say- beers." And then they follow you to the bar but just talk in grunts, and you're still not sure. It isn't until they meet a girl and start trying to gnaw on her head that you really know. And then you have to apologize for him. "Sorry! Sorry about my buddy there. Excuse him, he's dead but he just came back to life. Sorry! I'll get him home. It's probably just a necromancer or some kind of ancient curse or something."
