I've never heard a British person pronounce it that way. The video must be some obscure regional dialect.

Now I admit that on many wonderful trips to UK, I doubt I overheard anyone saying "Basil" The youtube version sounds exactly the same as anyone from California [of course with ordinary Brit Accent (Not including Spanish and Russian or Chinese accents.

It's a French loanword. The "h" is silent.

You don't understand British humor at all you fucking asswipe. Every Brit I've ever met considers mispronunciation to be the epitome of comedy, which is why everyone in Fawlty Towers pronounces Basil Fawlty's name wrong. They think that's the funniest shit ever.

I say something like "kwassan" with the 'n' being soft, but a French person would still laugh hard I bet.
How do yanks say it? Can some brave soul do a Vocaroo or just figure put the IPA?

I saw, i just wanted it direct from kook! American accents can also differ widely cant they?
The quebecois r is a lot more guttural and pronounced than france french (in general the accent is much...harder and broader) but i struggle with it sometimes
