Put your amazingly slim and sleek styled phone into a large and bulky plastic, shock proof, waterproof, sound deadening, screen hiding, non touch sensitive case like a normal person. You won't need to worry about glass!

Of course you can get one made out of metal. Not very much metal as it must contain Glass Lots of glass if you still want wireless charging. If wireless charging isn't important to you...The Metal phone must contain glass or plastic because as Syntax will tell you :RF transmission. This means your LTE, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth signals, cannot escape or enter a box totally made out of metal. Metal also ends up with dings/dents.

Galaxy S10+ is beautiful in ceramic.

When you have your phone repaired? Or replaced which helps your humble author. Choices life is that so many choices.

Putting Planet Earth aside for a momento.

Five of the top seven carriers in the U.S. use CDMA: Verizon Wireless, Sprint, MetroPCS, Cricket, and U.S. Cellular. AT&T and T-Mobile use GSM.

Most of Planet Earth is GSM

There are good and bad CDMA and GSM networks.

Now for us who own Qualcomm stock...3G GSM is also actually a type of CDMA. And all forms of GSM have to pay royalties to Qualcomm for use of multiple patents. In fact Broadcom a major player in WiFi sued the hell out of Qualcomm and won big (but Qualcomm has so much green cash in bank +15Billon green it no matter LoL)

Current GSM" is actually a CDMA technology, called WCDMA (wideband CDMA) So Qualcomm is most pleased that GSM is used all over Planet Earth as cash flows n flows n flows to Qualcomm no matter which technology is used.

Then there are the Chips for GSM only or CDMA only and Chips from Qualcomm that do both at same tyme. Plus the Key advantage Qualcomm Snapdraggon chip has over the others. One chip that does wot others take 3 chips 2do.

Its not just real estate space..It power from battery.

Its more Planet Earth wise Confucious re 4G cause for a major good 4G n I dare not tell ya whats beyond the 4G LTE - The fact is CDMA ain't the full way to go long term ...well not exactly as it has been cause in the long run it will be has been after 2020 or so.

Ya want the full scoop well as much as I am allowed to share?

OFDM, OFDMA (OFDM Access) and MIMO (Multiple Input Multiple Output) Qualcomm much to the pain in ass for GSM n everyone else has over 1200 Patents on such technology. Its what all digital television uses.

Its the real future but bottom line is when it cums to getting that last bit bytes out of Spectrum the laws of Physics can not be disobeyed and on paper CDMA had pushed those close to the limits.
Qualcomm in fact started out b4 even Qualcomm with OFDM OFDMA for precursor company Linkabit. But decided that CDMA had more to offer back THEN. (Spectrum not avail for OFDM OFDMA)

So OFDM, OFDMA with CDMA integrated, takes it so close to the ultimate line - at the very edge of Shannon's & Nyquest theory, that any other breakthrough only ends up in long term Patent fights for which I suspect will make attorneys so damn rich it will drive more peeps into law patent biz.

Real deal is - any form of upgraded GSM which now is just a name cept for that sim card diff - Silly when one can carry on key ring the equiv or just pull in software from cloud - Future will have no silly Sim lol

But C back and still the problem for Planet Earth is Spectrum blocks - OFD variants need HUGE HUGE Blocks of contiguous spectrum so until that's a go Planet Earth then improvements will be slow.

No matter which way cause Qualcomm is rather large

Then and this drives Intel Corp pure insane - They decided to stick with CPU power hungry originally MS compatible - Brits ARM - with say Google Android driven by Qualcomm well hell its the standard.

So now let me end this with Chips. Chips for bunny rabbits n toys n phones n gamers you name it Chips - Add up all the chips by everyone for everything - Two years ago Qualcomm was ranked only number 9 in world wide manuf for EVERYTHING TOTAL - Then last year #5 and now LMAO - With largest growth and poor Intel is still trying to find a way in2 Cells n Tablets n Notebooks and oh wait they decided maybe Qualcomm was rite to go with ARM after all.

And Qualcomm not be so dumb as to make the parts - They let IBM n Intel and (not supposed to say) but its on web - They are Fabless and Intel wants to be as well total - Sorry u asked?

One hell of a company to work for - One hell of a Professor Irwin Jacobs was for me at MIT first n then UCSD later and one hell of a founder of Qualcomm n friend cept we are at odds re him fuckin KPBS and attempt to fuck up Balboa park for all the rite reasons in all the wrong ways but funny how recently after I lobbied the hell out of him at dinner he pulled his money out of the Balboa park fuk up

Is that really a question or? Anyway - What appears to be a Metal phone is not all metal because a closed metal box does not let radio waves enter or pass through. (Penetrate)
If anyone wants to steal a car that has an alarm/radio protection system, one only needs to haul the car into a truck that has a fully enclosed metal body (copper lined is Ideal) because typical truck body seams, allow the transmissions to penetrate.

What looks to you like Metal is Faux front and back with a mix of Glass here and there.

HEY Of the many things I am good AT - Packaging a product is not my Forte - In fact hummmmm that fact wood be TMI but wood share that unique fact about me in private with you.

So it comes down to Brittle breakable or Metal which looks great at the start but dings-dents and gets ugly over time. Also holding a metal phone on a hot day ain't so much fun. It DOES ONE HELL of a much better job keeping IC's inside Coooooool. Apple has to make a number of design compromises and what you will see is less battery life as a result with ALL THAT Glass. One of those compromises is also something I am not allowed to share (now that Apple and Qualcomm are good working partners again)

Of course there are all plastic Phones. Have held a few viewed a couple that looked outstanding - Later read that people hated it because the color of the phone ended up on gal's blouses and guys ties. And Plastic scratches even worse than the Glass Iphone.

Yea Logistics

Have been super ultra busy working on the future of 4GLTE and I mean the farrrrrrr way out future as in NOT the next variation around the corner. Stuff driven by wacko marketing types who have already produced the ads that are beyond illegal currently and demand stuff that requires CPU technology to move radically - We that is a huge number of Engineers and Scientists tell them exactly what they do not want to hear and they open up wallets of company they report to and say HEY here is a huge amount of cash so go make it happen.

Logistics - Engineers say no way Jose and Marketing types say - There is a goal line and that goal line moves - Ya all have to move with the moving goal line or end up eclipsed by competition

So I end this with the how did I end up deciding to propose

Trip to Sequoia National Forest without any basic preparation - Still in dating mode - Sleeping bags but no tent and no plan on where to stay - Staked out a Redwood tree and set up a spot and we go to sleep

I wake up and see condensation has made a pool of HUGE amount of water on GF's sleeping bag. There wood be no way to move or do anything to stop that huge pool from flooding my GF if she moved

She removed all make up B4 going to sleep in that bag - I see her sans any make up in the morning light of a Forest. I stare and realize there is no way I can change/effect or do anything to make the situation any better re IF SHE Moves on quarter inch she gets flooded

She woke up and lafffed and laffed as the water spread all over her

I said Yep this is one that I should Marry - Year later did

No waterfall as that was from reading John Muir in poetic form and I WE just had to give that a try - TOTAL GREAT on Paper as a story - In practice when one goes under a water fall that water can come directly from melting SNOW
