I ran the lyrics of Smashmouth "All Star" from English, to Chinese, to Cebuano, to Zulu, to Hindi, to Hebrew, and back to English. Here are the great results that will clearly replaces human translators:

I hate when you're out with some mates from China, the Philippines, South Africa, India and Israel and they ask for you to translate for them, but insist you run each translation through their language. It's irritating how often this happens. Thankfully Google Translate™ is there to save the day!

Even a fluent speaker of two languages wouldn't be able to exactly translate song lyrics from one language to another. I don't get this test.

For NOW on the 25 year thing - Matt if you count Preschool days to your Masters Degree and we all can find that number so easy

C what I mean by 25 and that number is probably Generous and NO Time nor do I care to look at date you were born again Feb xy and MS at that looney bin school cause for sure it's No UCLA or USD -

When I travled for a living no such Electronic Language tool existed and Web Babble thing was pain to use plus I was in places where NO Net connection existed and back b4 the Globalstar Satellites no way to even phone - Places with NO Landlines No Cell connect and a bulky and slow package to use to send text back and forth with GEO Satellites - So OF COURSE I relied on professional Language translators IF I could get them or find a local usually a student who could do the translations as needed -

I never ever found anyone in Dubbo Australia who could convert super HEAVY AS ALL FUCK Aussie so heavy that locals could only understand 75% of what he was saying - Me about 25% and this guy was a Key to stuff no one else could or wood do in such a remote location - You may even remember Mark My Words and his sister Yowie from B's Mental Ward - Should have connected up with him but me thinks talking about the incest between the two kind of put him off - I did come within about 500 feet of his farm by accident on my way to a Radio Telescope and had no clue at the time I was looking at his front gate until a few years later -

Anyway I can share what current users of the several brands, Qualcomm just hands out to any employee that goes on a trip - Tools that company is so damn generous with free Tools and that goes for simple Technicians and other support people with NO Degree Hell everyone travels on Business Class no matter what rank.

Hey forget about Preschool - Kindergarten 1st Grade you take your pic
Point is simple - One starts and finishes school with eventual purpose in mind if one wants to live in society without having to mow peoples grass or stoop labour picking crops etc - Bunch of years so many years and IF Smart ends up with a Useful Degree or NOT

My Daughter is in 3Rd Year of Residency at Mass Gen Hospital and has about more more years to go b4 she gets what she wants - How much she makes and total years is crazy but at least all I am now stuck with is cost of fixing a falling apart expensive house in Cambridge while I now pay for Apt and in Cambridge its $$$$

I can give you an example of Machine language translation that ends up 99.9999999999999% accurate, doing all the languages you listed one at a time to the other in sequence.

True and it's even possible a translator might improve a line or phrase of the original.

Take 5 Professional HUMAN Translators and the results will differ. There are some classic examples of errors professionals have made that were egregious fuck ups.

Humans ain't perfect nor are machines. When people gave up the horse and saddle or even started to use the wheel, they found machines are better and faster, but of course who doesn't love horses. Horses still have a place but not for ridding or work with minor exceptions.

Of course there is currently a need in some cases for human's to translate languages in some circumstances. Technology is rapidly making those humans obsolete.

You and I currently accept digital translations that are far less than they should be - Ask me some other time why we put up with those errors.
