Topic: Look, even you Trump supporters have to admit that thist is ridiculous

Just be a human being and think about this objectively. Trump comes up with the ridiculous idea that he wants to buy Greenland. As you might imagine, Denmark and Greenland say, hell no. Now Trump is refusing to meet with the Prime Minister of Denmark because he will not discuss buying Greenland. Come on, that is not only how a child acts, but a child with a severe mental problem. Surely you cannot think this is normal presidential behavior?

It's hilarious though. I wonder how much Greenland is worth. Probably a couple trillion.

1. The prime minister of Denmark is probably a total fag anyway.
2. Without the US Army and American defense spending in NATO, there wouldn't even *BE* a Denmark to be prime minister of. Total ungrateful scum.

Do you understand what misdirection is? Your Trump Derangement is probably what he's relying on while changing the rules about asylum, just like last time.

I mean it's clearly absurd but it's not a bad idea, in the sense that if it happened (it will not) it would be a net win for the U.S.
There isn't really any grand strategy behind it though. The story leaked that months ago he asked about buying Greenland, and he just kind of rode that publicity wave until it basically just petered out with him getting rejected (expectedly) by the PM of Denmark. There's a certain novelty to it but this'll be a blip that people will forget about in 3 weeks and then 3 months from now people will say things like "Remember the time the president tried to buy Greenland?"

What I don't get is why people act like this is such a shocking unprecedented thing given that the US tried to buy Greenland in 1867 and 1946. Basically we try to buy Greenland every 70 years.

Also why does the President need to meet with the Danish prime minister if not to discuss buying Greenland? That's the only reason I could see for meeting with them anyway ?

I think it's just that it kind of came out of the blue, and anything Trump does is always ramped up to 11 in the media. If Bush proposed it people would have just looked at it quizzically and shrugged their shoulders.

What's crazy about proposing to buy territory? It's historically one of the most common ways of acquiring new land. The other most popular way is warfare. I get hating Trump but I don't get thinking this idea is the dumbest idea in the history of human civilization or whatever. It does feel very dated, and is only something a businessman with zero political expertise would be dumb enough to propose nowadays.

He is refusing to meet with an ally leader because that leader will not sell him her country! That is batshit crazy!

Again, the way he is handling this is totally incompetent. Everything he does is totally incompetent. The idea by itself, divorced from Trump, isn't new and would be a boon for America if it ever happened (it won't).
