Ohio and Pennsylvania, which together have about 90% of the population of California, get by FAR more attention. 2/3rds of all campaign money were spent in 6 states. 94% of candidate events were in 12 states. We have a tyranny of the minority and it's all because our presidential electoral system overweights big pop states with a closely divided political makeup. Which is totally arbitrary. NY has 2 million fewer people than Florida (a 10% difference) and yet NY isn't 10% less important than Florida, it's like a million percent less important. That's unjust.

@1,031,954 (Svet !jzYkdX7lIw)theoretically yes, but in practice california still winds up with... i think its like 55 out of 538 votes? i cbf to google it. and while it avoids centering populated states, sure, it leads to a pattern where candidates dont bother with states they think they cant win. in 2016 this was down to maybe, 10 states that people campaigned in, mostly ohio and iowa iirc? there's also district gerrymandering that fucks things up immensely. until i moved earlier this year i used to be in IL district 4, which is shaped like (pic related) but i think just abt everyone with a passing interest in democracy can say thats fucked up
