I think it's common and I don't think you'd be surprised if someone told you of such problems in their work. But why?

I have been around for many a year. Many a boss. Some good some not so much so good but over all most OK. My only mistake was, and I did this several times. Was told if the new boss was not doing well, I should say something to upper management and I held out much to long and damage was done.

Then I finally agreed to take on the Boss position and think I did well. Based on employees performance I sure did. It is difficult knowing I could do their jobs quicker and better but the boss has to let employees learn on the job. Of course on occasion, I hired someone that could do a task much better than me. Boss's need to be able to do that.

tl;dr
Don't give a flying fuck.
