At best he has about 3 mediocre songs. They all seem like the songs that get played about 3/4 of the way into a chic flix movie when the protagonist gets inspired to do whatever it is they do...I mean, sure, he's a great musician, but that doesn't translate into making great songs. I think that most people just say they like him because their mom used to make them listen to him on the way to school. And, if you don't like him, you're not down with pride and probably voted for Trump...
Candle in the Wind and Don't Let the Sun Go Down On Me are the only songs where I probably wouldn't change the radio station...and even then... I would probably have to be driving from El Paso to San Antonio and the radio miraculously picked up the oldies station after spinning on seek for the 25 minutes. Elton John's music sucks.

I like The Boxer best anything from the Bridge Over Troubled Water is good! Graceland is a good album as well although somewhat controversial behind the music. Those are probably his two conventionally "best" contributions.
