I just need to make sure no one outs me. My friend has been going off about another friend of ours who just got engaged. He was in the same situation as me. He is an attractive fun guy, though. He is also really social. I didn't really understand it. He's like half-gay but doesn't act on it, but also 100% into chicks. He may also want to be a woman, but thats besides the point. Anyway, he is with this amazing girl now and engaged. My housemate always brings up how she never remembers him dating anyone and now he is engaged to this woman he hasn't been with for a year. He was with one woman before, who's marriage he broke up. It sounds like a movie.

Yeah, I think it will come up if they're paying any attention at all. It's not a dealbreaker, it's just a bit of a wtf if you don't really know someone yet. Key is just to get past that stage where you're judging someone at that level.
I don't think the answer is to try to hide it or lie, rather, just be a little vague at first that you haven't really been dating much, or you went through a stage of being really shy --- if it comes up. I think it could be one of those admissions that builds you connection with someone once you have a rapport and can acknowledge how you've fucked up in life or gotten depressed or whatever, but probably not in the first few weeks up/month or two.
IME most females are pretty sympathetic toward people who've struggled with depression, they just need to have connected with someone first before they can still see someone who's struggled in that way as dating material without running away.
