Topic: Father Merrin, how do I explain transubstantiation to a friend?
Anonymous A started this discussion 6 years ago#89,641
I'm very concerned about his salvation... he believes in God, he has accepted Christ into his heart, but he refuses to accept the truth of transubstantiation.

Having no clue myself I looked and found this.
"The difference is in how that idea is understood. Consubstantiation is the idea that, at the same time, it is both bread and wine and the body and blood of Christ. Transubstantiation is the idea that though it looks like bread and wine, it is not."
Catholics are Cannibals and they practice-role play as Cannibals by pretending the Bread is the body of Jesus and his body has been drained of its blood so they drink Red wine pretending it's blood.

You should preface all your rambling Google collages this way.
OP, I must first ask: is your friend Catholic?

I am Jewish but I was raised in a Catholic neighborhood and most of my friends were Catholic. I could never get a straight answer from them when I asked, it is literal flesh or not?

Only to the Catholic Church. Can't be forgiven for apostasy.

I'll need to wait for the OP to confirm that before continuing. I wouldn't want a potential imposter to hijack his thread. Bear with us please.

Be sure to post the outcome of the investigation please. And in the meantime, bless you for reminding us of the importance of the 'innocent until proven guilty' cornerstone of Western law.

So many pedo priests, so little time to catch and prosecute them.

Transubstantiation is the changing, in reality, of the communion bread and wine into the actual body and blood of Christ. Unlike all other flavours of Christian, Catholics really do believe that they become the flesh and blood, not just symbolically. The Greek word used for "eat" when talking about taking communion is τρώγω (trógó) which means to munch, chew or gnaw as on a piece of meat.
The sacraments of baptism, confirmation and communion are closely related to the holy trinity. When you are baptised you receive the blessing of the Father. When you take communion you receive the Son, and in confirmation of your faith, you embrace the Holy Spirit.

I am a fan of Greek Festivals and here in Cardiff by the Sea we have one in September - I have even attended the Church service with friends on occasions. So no I don't drink the cups of blood but damn they do offer baskets of fresh baked Greek bread and I mean Huge Chunks of Toasty bread.
SO I guess I have τρώγω (trógó) several tymes. Anyway I consider Jesus much like one of these. Stories drawn on walls in figurine form. People will believe all kinds of fairy tales and Jesus is as valid as the Tooth Fairy.

How does transubstantiation work with a keto diet? I'm trying to avoid carbs.
