Why have you started a new thread when the existing one was perfectly ok for illustrating your hilarious faux pas? Is it because you made a fool of yourself and you hoped to regain control of the narrative by starting over from a different angle? ;)
Stick to this one my child, it contains all the education you need:
> The only way to settle this is for Merrin and the 2 other best Latin speakers here to have a contest of some sort. Loser gets permabanned.
I officially agree to this contest. To be clear, my degree is in Classics and my dissertation was in the Latin poets of the Augustan age (Virgil, Horace, Propertius, etc).

Because this thread is all about you, fake priest, whereas the other thread was about the pope, boy scouts & molestation, and was in danger of being derailed.

I see you are still attempting to divert attention away from the fact that you do not even know how to translate the most basic of Latin prepositions.
Let me attempt to educate you: The phrase "ad hominem" means "to the man" - note "to", not "of". Why "to" and not "of"? Because it refers to the direction of the argument. It is a style which you are particularly fond of - direct your attack to the man rather than to the argument - lazy and of course fallacious.
Perhaps if there is to be some sort of competition, this can be round 1:
Merrin's translation of "ad hominem": "of the man". ZERO
My translation of "ad hominem": "to the man". ONE
Next.

Hey vocalon, good to see you! What are you doing in this thread though? It's rather dull.

Well, aren't we about to compete? I would have thought you would also be tremendously excited for this golden opportunity to demonstrate your superior knowledge of the classics and prove once and for all that you really are a Catholic priest.
