@OP
It is idolatry with no biblical backing other than “tradition”
Jews do not venerate saints or kneel to statues of David, Moses, or Joshua so the whole argument that the ancient church did such things is not a valid reason. Many members of the early Christian church were pagans living under Roman rule who were comforted by idol worship so adopted the practice with Roman Catholicism.
The apostles were not carving little statues of each other and praying to graven images of themselves after Christ ascended.

They do one hell of a job protecting pedophiles. That is currently their primary mission. Now they have a new plan to give money to people who have been molested by the church and buy their silence so they won't call the cops.

> How is it not idolatry to kneel before a statue of Mary or a saint, pray to it, and kiss its feet?
There's a difference in Catholic doctrine between idolatry and veneration. If the case of the images (of Mary or the saints) you mentioned, no divinity is ascribed to them in veneration. They are not 'worshipped' as God, which is what idolatry in this context is.
Bless you for the question friend!

That is pure sophistry. I have seen Catholics bow down before a statue, hug it and kiss its feet, and pray to it.

They claim that their prayers are pleas for intercession which if you actually believe in God as intended you would know would be a waste of time.

Praying to a saint to intercede on behalf of you or your dead family members or anything really is an affront to the sufficiency of Christ’s sacrifice.
You are saying that praying to God isn’t enough and I need to pray to a dead Christian who will intercede on my or their behalf with God. It’s a total manmade tradition with no roots in Judaism or the early church.

Viewed the Pope on TV washing feet of a person - The same Pope excommunicated just one single member of the clergy so far in his years of "Pope dumb" while a mass of kids are still being molested by priests already charged. Even many priests in seclusion and protected by Pope so they can continue to molest kids.

And I have seen Muslims strap explosives to their waists and blow up a marketplace. The lesson to be learnt: just because you 'see' someone do something doesn't mean it accurately represents a religion's teaching.

Your religion teaches that the sacrifice of Christ is not enough. We also need Mary's intercession, saints' intercession, a priest's forgiveness, etc.

Matthew 7:21-23 New King James Version (NKJV)
I Never Knew You
21 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. 22 Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ 23 And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’

No it doesn't.

No we don't. And for your information, priests don't forgive anyone, it is God who forgives. A very basic error made by people who unfortunately don't take the time to learn even the fundamentals of the religion before critiquing it.

"Refuse" is an odd word to use here. Who on earth would ever force a person to do this? All prayer is done (or ought to be done at any rate) of the supplicant's own free will.
