That happens because it's minecraft. It happened before as well. The only thing they'll do, at most, is turn the server off and notify you about it. Not suspend.

More like CPU. It already has those chunks loaded seeing as the player is in there. Even if you were right it'd release the memory afterwards just as normal, so that wouldn't even do anything.

This is another glitch (Probably a minecraft memory leak or w/e. Inb4 hurr durr memory leaks can't happen in java: Look into zombie threads) in the game which is only solved by just restarting the server every now and then. Or just hitting the freakin' reboot button on the server when it happens.
