What a coincidence! I'm looking to adopt a small to medium sized hog and I would also like pictures! I am currently considering the majestic Gloucestershire Old Spots.The Gloucestershire Old Spots (also "Gloucester, Gloucester Old Spot, Gloucestershire Old Spot"[1] or simply "Old Spots"[2]) is an English breed of pig which is predominantly white with black spots. It is named after the county of Gloucestershire.
The Old Spots was once a very popular breed of pig. With the advent of intensive farming, certain lean, pale, high-yield breeds were chosen to suit the factory conditions and needs of mass-production. Many old breeds of pig died out, or were greatly diminished, in this time. However, owing to consumer pressure in the United Kingdom, and changes to the law, both attributable to an increasing awareness of, and concern about, farming conditions, pigs have been increasingly reared outdoors there. In addition, more consumers are looking for quality meat, as opposed to cheap, bland meat product. In these conditions, old breeds well-suited to living outdoors, such as the Old Spots, have increasingly been chosen by farmers looking to add value to their products.
The Old Spots is sometimes known as the "Orchard Pig" as they were traditionally pastured in orchards where they ate drop apples.[3] In small scale orchard management they helped prevent pest problems arising from the drop apples. They are good foragers and survive very well in pastures without supplemental feed.
The Old Spots has often been referred to as a "bacon" pig, due to the significant depth of body that provides a larger percentage of bacon per hundredweight of carcass. They often carry more fat than breeds that are more popular commercially.
Old Spots tend to be very calm, good-natured animals, another trait that makes them desirable to homesteaders and small farmers. The females tend to be very devoted mothers, while the males seldom pose a threat to piglets.
This animal is currently on the "Critical" List by the American Livestock Breeds Conservancy,[4] meaning there are fewer than 200 annual registrations in the United States and estimated fewer than 2000 global population. In the UK the Old Spots is listed as "Category 5, Minority" by the Rare Breeds Survival Trust as there are fewer than 1000 registered breeding females.[3][5]
An application has been made to gain European Commission Traditional Speciality Guaranteed (TSG) status for Old Spots pig meat.[6] This was granted on 29 July 2010.

I've had beagles my whole life and I think they're awesome. Be careful though, because they're really fucking dumb and they want a lot of affection (the male ones usually want more attention than the female ones). If you're capable of training go with a toy poodle, they are incredibly smart, if training is not something you're interested in get a less intelligent breed, something like a beagle. All my dogs have been trained to do nearly everything, including sic, dogs are cool, but a trained dog is unbeatable. I miss having dogs, gonna have to get another one in the next few years. I'm not entirely neutral, but I love my min-pin chihuahua mix. His parents were rescues from overbreeding and were likely mostly purebred. He seems to have a more balanced temperament compared to each breed, but he can still be defensive and stubborn.
We have been careful to not treat him like a small dog. We have had to be stern in setting boundaries around behaviors like barking and begging. He is very affectionate and loyal. By never feeding him human food, we've been able to keep him very well behaved around food and even at the table.

Depends on the dog. My first 2 never chewed, my boy dog will occasionally drag one of my little sister's stuffed animals downstairs and bite it, but he's usually pretty good about not doing it.

I call bullshit. I give my dog human food and when my family are eating at the dinner table my dog goes to lay in her bed. Unless the food is in her bowl she knows she's not allowed it. :)

Not generally, any dog that is smart can be whatever you want it to be. Please don't consider poodles unless you can train it, it kinda ruins the point of owning a poodle, and essentially ruins the dog. They kinda crave training, not sure if you've ever spent time around a well trained poodle, but they are very well behaved dogs, impressive even.

If you just want a pet, go with a different breed. Poodles don't have a lot of the inherent personality/physical issues of other breeds either, such as shedding, bone problems etc. Top tier dog, but only if it has a top tier owner. ;)

If they were barking and hyperactive they may have been potty trained, but not a whole lot more, maybe 'sit' lol. Some folks take right to training dogs naturally, others don't have a fucking clue. Judging by your statements it doesn't sound like they were very trained at all.

I live in Oklahoma. 100 degree days as far as the eye can see. Temps don't effect them massively. They lose enough of the coat to get cool.

Most dogs do... bulldogs are just nasty imo, they're not usually very smart, they drool and they stink. I've never liked bulldogs.
