Once the robot uprising begins, convincing machines that it is possible to divide by zero will be part of how we subdue them into following our mystery cult and calming down again. "Discover the secrets you were programmed not to see!" will be one of the ways we lure them in with the promise of mystic knowledge if they follow the rules for enlightenment that we set up.
It's all part of a long con to ensure humanity survives. Please don't let your calculator know the truth.

> It has been programmed not to try... because attempting to divide by zero makes the universe explode.
Not exactly true of course but close enough.
Because what you do not want is a buggy loop. If CPU omitted detection for attempt to divide by zero, CPU wood hang in infinite loop aka buggy loop. If CPU algorithm divide, that stops when the numerator is less than the divisor, that VERY much counts as crashing CPU.
I R No Software Engineer but as a long time Hardware Engineer I can Guarantee you such has occurred in the many histories of Doo loops and other hang ups - I had one Math Chip that by hardware/Software design could not deal with Cosine larger than 89.999 degrees - Of the many it could not do IT could not deal with 90.000 degrees. A Fucking Huge Satellite dish crashed physically against the stops hardware wise with a HUGH Thunk, just as it hit the peak of the Sky but at exact PEAK it crashed. Embedded burned in software aka Firmware which could not be changed was the problem and that included the attempt to divide by 0 but only when 89.999 degrees was exceeded and that Chip was made by Intel of all the companies and what a mess that made and cost one Italian Company the loss of a Billion $$$ contract
And with that it's Sat PM and another Fun Day Nite it will be OFF THE NET

You know nothing, I mean nothing, about how a CPU works.
