Why does the world have to turn to hard core right wing nationalism as a response to our lunacy? Can't we compromise a little? Can't we integrate with a slightly conservative view? We demand diversity, but will never accept conservative or even slightly right leaning opinions. We have moved so far left that everyone in the middle who agrees with some left-wing and some right-wing policies are now considered alt-right Nazi racists running concentration camps...

Understanding a country's politics is a lot more than just an awareness of the broad themes and ideas + an opinion on them. There's plenty to understand that falls outside the realm of subjective opinion too.
