The chicken and bacon ones are decent. I preferred them before they changed to the tomato tortilla though.

Ramen noodles are still my go to for using up veggies and leftover meat. I have a secret about a better way to prepare those noodles.

@previous (H)

Is the secret that you rehydrate them in a bowl of room-temp water and then later put them in a stir-fry with said vegetables and leftover meat?

I am still talking about noodles for ramen. Hydration is on point. Packet noodles are already cooked, fried and then dried. Boiling them per directions takes the chew out. So my secret is a simple way to keep the chew in. Your technique may work as well because of the room-temp water. May have to compare that with the way I presently do it.

Steaming?

Anonymous H replied with this 6 years ago, 18 minutes later, 1 day after the original post[^] [v] #1,005,575

@previous (E)
No because even if that works and it probably does *and even if your method works and I am sure it does, my method requires no additional pot or device.
*Also the hot steam will cook the noodles and that is what I do not want to do.

Do you re-heat it slowly and delicately, then mix in your own ingredients?

I like to add lemon juice to the noodles as they cook, use half of the sodium packet, and throw some other herbs in there

Anonymous H replied with this 6 years ago, 10 seconds later, 1 day after the original post[^] [v] #1,005,579

@1,005,576 (E)
That is not going to work either. Slowly or fast the noodles are going to cook.

Anonymous H replied with this 6 years ago, 15 minutes later, 1 day after the original post[^] [v] #1,005,614

@previous (E)
Ouch. I said chewy not crackling dry. As with Italian Pasta you must and I mean MUST have al dente texture. This in interesting as it cooks the noodles but with 50% of the time and goes slow and ads a paper hand fan - hummmmm anyway

"This is critical: I find that simply boiling the noodles for 4-5 minutes, as most ramen directions read, produces a limp and soggy noodle. To avoid this, you have to slow down the noodle's cooking process while the broth continues to cook. The best way to do this: fan the noodles.

I should contact that author and suggest my method which is frankly a lot more easy and simpler.

Odd that I find raw eggs with the goopy egg white not my cup of tea yet enjoy Quail Eggs on sushi rice. Now mixing in a Raw Egg in a number of Asian dishes does work for me. Provides a custer texture.

Where I live it's considered unwise to eat chicken eggs raw.
"The US Department of Agriculture (USDA) considers it safe to use raw eggs if they are pasteurized. Bottom Line: Raw eggs may contain a type of pathogenic bacteria called Salmonella, which can cause food poisoning. However, the risk of an egg being contaminated is quite low.Jul 23, 2016"

I get it, you boil the broth up and then add the noodles afterwards on a simmer.

Anonymous H replied with this 6 years ago, 6 minutes later, 1 day after the original post[^] [v] #1,005,668

@previous (E)
No simmer required/wanted. Add them after the soup from the pot is poured into the bowl. Over time I tried various methods including putting the noodles in the bottom of the bowel and then pouring the soup from pot to bowl (does prove no cooking required) Works at first but the very hot broth ends up making for soggy noodles soon after. What works is to put noodles in at the very end and only on the side of the bowl - Then because soup will only rehydrate 1/2 the stack - Turning over the stack and pushing the stack down and in - that works - Give it a try.

My roommate and I used to cook ramen in our dorm room coffee pot. We did a similar little dunk-and-turn dance to get the noodles just right.

Totally opposite of what the package says. Package says to cook the holy hell out of those noodles and that is what most people do like you.

Pick any popular brand and look up cooking instructions as I just did

Directions
Cooking directions: 1. Boil 2 cups of water in a saucepan, add noodles and cook 3 mins. Stirring occasionally. 2. Turn off heat, add contents of seasoning package, stir well for 1 min. 3. Serve when the seasoning is fully dissolved. Makes 2, 8oz servings.

And you are referring to the lowcow Instant version where you pour boiling water over the gunk maruchan makes - My method the noodles never see boiling or even close to boiling water

> which is what I do

> like me?? i don't even make shit noodles dog

> add hot water and wait 3 minutes. which is what I do
