The Freedom of Information Act lets you request declassified information, and have it mailed to you. Of course, you can FOIA your own "file". Typically this is very redacted, for privacy reasons, but if you invoke the privacy act and prove your identity they will leave everything alone so you can see what they have on you.

I hear certain agencies will start a file on you if you do this (some people found out after they FOIA'd themselves twice).

Pick a federal agency and submit a FOIA request. The instructions should be on any applicable agency's web site.
