Basically, yeh. It either means they aren't deep thinkers or deep feelers. Atheism can be reached via either route. If they are young, it can be forgiven, if they are way into adulthood and still believe it, then, I can barely respect them or learn much from them. However, I don't think intelligence and religiousness are linked, rather, a certain type of insight/lack thereof is what is needed, like a blind spot. And of course, there are those who use religion in a cynical way but don't believe it.

Silly question. Are you asking if all religious people are stupid, or if their religious beliefs are stupid? Because there's plenty of scientists, cosmologists, and physicists who believe in God.
Simply holding religious belief does not instantly make someone "stupid", but most Christians and Muslims I've met are certainly not very bright, and very closed minded when it comes to their beliefs - often refusing to even debate the subject. Most people are religious because they've either been indoctrinated as a child, or they are scared of death/non-existence. Both of which are fairly stupid reasons to believe in God, IMO.

No. An Atheist is just as likely to be as dumb as a Christian, same with Muslims, Jews, Agnostics, Buddhists, etc. (traditional Buddhists seem to be the smartest, if not coolest, religious people but there are plenty of 16 year-old sluts and worthless celebrities converting to be cool)
