Topic: Why is the gay flag a rainbow when people are either gay or not gay?

Meta !Sober//iZs started this discussion 6 years ago #87,533

It should just be black and white bars to represent being gay or not gay, but they should be equal in size to symbolize that there's nothing really wrong with being gay, it's just a different lifestyle like how some people don't eat pork ?

It's a reference to their pagan god, The Prism.

Externally hosted imageReally it could be the flag to symbolize everything because for every possible thing, you either are or are not that thing ?

Sexuality is binary with very minor genetic exceptions.

That can't be proven. Thanks.

If you put two prisms in a row, they will break white light into a rainbow, then turn the rainbow back into white light.

But you either are gay, or not.

> If you put two prisms in a row, they will break white light into a rainbow, then turn the rainbow back into white light.

Not really true. The beam, entering the prism, will refract and will expand to white light colours, since the refractive index depends from-on the wavelength. The colours will meet the opposite prism at different points, and they will resume their original direction getting out of the prism. But now you will have each coloured beam on the original direction but displaced. The displacement will be also proportional to the prism thickness.

In conclusion the colours are not recombined but you have a coloured beam, parallel to the original beam direction.
