Topic: Why are people so scared by trivial paranormal experiences and shadow figures?

I don't get this, I have had experiences with both and am more curious than scared. Really, they don't scare me at all, and haven't since I was like 7. I also know many of these entities feed off of fear, and generally avoid giving them anything to feed off of.
Yet, anytime I listen to\read true scary stories, many of them feature such entities and the authors try to make them sound pterrifying. So, most of the time I am disappointed, bc I was expecting something scary. Why are these entities scary to other people? I really don't get it.
I don't even have an old ghost hunting kit, obsessed fag.

Well, scholars believe that our genes are evolutionarily coded to fear things that we do not understand, that are different, that are unexpected, and especially that are unknown. Unpredictable, unknown things tend to be dangerous, and our ancestors (and us, to some degree) use this fear as a means to avoid danger. It is an adaptation to enhance the likelihood of survival.
