I'm feeling a lot better, I'm feeling positive this time & will stick at it.. I'd be greatful for some support guys if I ever have a bad day, that's when I struggle with my self control.
> Just gotta make it through the first two weeks, I'm going on 12 days no reefers. I drink some, but not in excess.
Since I was 17 the longest I've been sober is 3 months.. I've done supervised detoxes, had counselling but nothing works really. I was a heavy daily drinker, I would work/pub/sleep and repeat for years on end. I loved it. But like everything in excess it starts to control you.. Eventually I had to drink, before and during work, then eventually I couldn't work anymore. My choice of drink was beer and a 25 can pack wouldn't be unusual in an evening. But obviously all them pints of beer needs to come out sooner or later and I got fed up... Yes with wet beds. So I eventually got onto vodka a 2 -750ml bottles a day. Drinking isn't fun or enjoyable at this stage, especially when withdrawals set in.
Alcohol was my best friend. I will miss it. But it was a toxic and expensive relationship.
This time round was okay, my withdrawals are over now, I had some hallucinations on day 3 but nothing major. I had diazepam for medication to help.
I don't smoke weed. You will laugh but.. The last time I smoked half a joint with some tobacco in it freaked me out. I had a MASSIVE panic attack I called paramedics and they took me to hospital for tests.. I was convinced I was having a heart attack, never ever again will I smoke that. It was obviously too strong I threw the rest of the pound bag of weed in the bin.

Will you stay sober after you start the job?

Health reasons mainly.. I'm a huge guy and I want to loose weight, I also don't want the anxiety that comes with being an alcoholic nor always having no energy to do anything in life.

No laughing, weed is psychoactive and people react to it differently.
I know how addiction can be, I had an MDMA addiction in my late teens/early twenties. I agree with what you are saying, substances can control you. I am sorry that you have had such a rough time, and sincerely hope you are able to stick with sobriety. Not everyone here is a wanker, and some of us are more than happy to offer moral support.

I'm coming up on a year sober now. I was drinking about 2.5 bottles of wine a night (a 5L box of Franzia every 3 days).

> Also joining reddit.com/r/stopdrinking helped a lot. I highly recommend it.
You may want to try a site dedicated to alcoholism, like soberrecovery they have a chatroom and forum, I would say away from teens online who drink a bottle of wine a day and class themselves as an alcoholic... It seems to be a 'cool' thing to be nowadays. Sad.

I rectify.. I meant an ounce not a lb it cost me £300 and yes it went in the bin.. I was off the booze at the time & wanted something different, I asked someone if they had anything weak for anxiety.. The fucking irony. Even the paramedic laughed at me saying and you had it with tobacco? I was literally off my tits and was convinced I was having a heart attack. I was clutching my chest leaning up against the wall, had tunnel vision and chest pain. While I was in the phone to the operator I couldn't follow basic conversation, I forgot my address and it was just a nightmare.. The paramedic said my eyes were telling her I was 'well stoned' I just kept saying I'm having a heart attack let's go.. She said I'm not having a heart attack, I didn't believe it. 2 hours layer I was fine. But never again.
