Firefox has been bad since it went from 3.6 to 4

Firefox has a grand tradition of disabling add-ons! It's one of the great things about upgrading Firefox. You start it up again and discover that all of your add-ons are broken! It's been that way for years. There are some alternatives like waterfox and pale moon if you are feeling like trying something new. I mostly ditched Mozilla when they couldn't shut up about their "pocket" shit and wouldn't just let me have a home page. Why can't they understand that I don't want my browser to keep a list of sites I visit along with how frequently I do that? I don't understand why that is such an ask. I have bookmarks and shit man. I also have neurons. If I visit minichan.org a hundred times a day, then chances are that I have gone to the trouble to make a fucking bookmark and I don't need your help. If I visit loadsofhorsesemen.com once or whatever, I probably don't want you splashing it up on screen the next time I open my computer. Just let me handle the fucking details so I can make my computer work like I want it to. I don't need your "help" on this, Mozilla.

Same thing happened to me literally last night. After spending several hours trying to correct the problem, I decided to remove Firefox from my system. After I clicked "uninstall", a message popped up asking me why I wanted to remove it. I sent them a reply explaining the situation, stating that I'd be using Chrome until they managed to resolve all their issues.

It was a bug re: certificates, fun stuff.

I'm pretty sure it's fixed for everybody now, but if you are still affected you can enable Firefox Studies for a few minutes to get a fix and then disable them again.

Sheila LaBoof (OP) replied with this 7 years ago, 1 hour later, 1 day after the original post[^] [v] #991,449

They haven't fixed it for older FF versions. People who keep an older version for very specific uses are ticked off big time.

where do you that idea that people don't want to download the bugfix

It is fixed. If you are using an older version..Good luck with that.

@previous (J)
dumb ass, I agreed that there was a fix, and pointed out that the fix was limited to newer versions, meaning that FF became broken for all versions but the fix did not work for all the versions that had become broken a few days ago. A fix for a broken 2017 chevy isn't a whole other 2018 chevy, which is what you seem to say.

Anonymous J replied with this 7 years ago, 5 minutes later, 2 days after the original post[^] [v] #991,542

@previous (Sheila LaBoof)
No need to get testy. The fix should work for all versions of FF according to FF. I have no opinion on 2017-18 Chevy's.

well it doesn't work for all versions of FF, which is why I said that it does not work for all versions of FF

https://betanews.com/2019/05/04/mozilla-fixes-firefox-add-ons-problem/

Recently I stopped using FF Except for banking/creditcards/ and banking related websites. Only because I have many and need passwords that are complex and often change them. Firefox makes it easy for me to find my passwords and I have not found a way to do that with Chrome.

Now anticipating that someone is going to say - What you store those passwords on your computer for view - Yes with a Crypto trick to keep them private.

Sheila LaBoof (OP) replied with this 7 years ago, 21 minutes later, 2 days after the original post[^] [v] #991,561

yeah I keep an older portable version with a couple of addons I like that never got brought over to the new FF system where things got different somehow

shit, that gives me an idea to restore this FF version. I have an older backup of all the usage crap on another stick and maybe it won't shit out as I read that someone simply did not use FF on the day that this bullshit happened, and somehow escaped the effect. mabye I'll get around to it. or not, there is a quick enough work around to make addons work for a full day if you keep the window open and that's what I've been doing, just with the adblocker because that's the only crucial daily one

Yes the fix is in the latest release not in an old release because it's impossible to fix an old release

you aren't versed on the subject at all

they released what they call hotfixes that worked for many people

they only put out the entirely new version as another option to overcome the retarded fuckup

I can confirm this, as someone who uses noscript and has used it since 2009.
