I mostly use AdAway which isn't available on the Google Play store. Maybe try FDroid if you're interested. That's because it involves rooting your device and making a large blocklist in your hosts file to not let ad sites even connect. It's effective. But it's effective kind of like my browser is effective by pretending to be an outdated piece of shit that doesn't support scripts and won't let you connect to third party sites unless someone clears it to do so specifically. Sometimes, eternal vigilance is the price you pay for people not constantly telling you how to think. Weird, I know.
It's kind of like getting your cousin who won't sit down for commercials to tell you when to come watch TV. Sometimes, it won't show you things. That's maybe a small price to pay for knowing where not to go.

Blokada seems to be okay. The things is, if you're going to enable an ad blocker, you should sort of know how to manage it. If you think you're hiring some kind of service to keep people off your lawn, you need to know they aren't crazies who try to shoot at post office workers that try to deliver letters. Some ad blockers are super crazy strict and you need to okay anything that comes through. Some don't really mind that much and you have to go find specific settings to block things they think are routine.
The thing is, those services won't tell you that. They just promise protection. It's kind of like someone promising you a car care package. If they don't specify what that care means or how far their responsibility extends, then it's kind of an empty promise. Everyone is going to shove an ad in your face and promise you the best *whatever*, but it isn't always a reality. It requires you to think about it and make informed decisions. When you don't, you pay the price.
