Why not round up the homeless and pay them $15 an hour to clean it up? ???

I think it's great. Imagine how much more heroin they could buy with a steady $15/hr 9-5 job. And for the homeless disabled or otherwise too feeble to sweep and pressure wash the sidewalks, put them on roving patrols. Anyone caught littering defecating in the streets is publicly tazed and pepper sprayed right there and then.

I'm serious. Anyone caught going to the bathroom on the sidewalk is immediately shot with a taser and pepper sprayed and they get the shit kicked out of them. No "fines". No "municipal code infractions". None of that bullshit.

LOL OMFG! Someone is complaining in San Francisco! It's obviously God's punishment for those queers!
When I hear the next guy complain about $10 avocado toast and having to ride the BART next to some passed out junkie, I'm gonna claim it's Divine Fucking Judgment!!! I've been watching shitty movie interpretations of big cities since I grew up, but this is worse than anything I've ever seen.

Yes. But it's also run by the homeless. We want to pit the good homeless against the bad homeless. Sometimes honest, hardworking, people have bad luck. You lost your job, you lost your apartment, maybe you have a criminal record. Whatever. Here's your second chance: $15 an hour and a shovel. Shovel the shit off the sidewalks and you get to tase and pepper spray anyone shitting on the sidewalk.
Don't like getting beat up cause you shit on the sidewalk? Grab a shovel and join the cleanup crew.
After San Francisco is fucking spotless and the streets and sidewalks are clean enough to eat off of, the cleanup crew is sent to Detroit to rebuild it.

Dude, it's the Bay Area. Just create a start-up Porta Potty business and sell it off as compost and fertilizer.

No, I grew up in a world where the underside of New York or wherever was supposedly filled with homeless muggers. It's just amusing that all of a sudden a place with with some of the highest real-estate values in the world is portrayed as an area that you might have to step in poop AND pay $20 for a latte.
Seems incongruous.
Sheila LaBoof replied with this 7 years ago, 9 minutes later, 4 hours after the original post[^][v]#988,265
why don't they put homeless in all those empty homes that they kicked people out of and are just letting birds nest in

I don't think walking the streets in gentrified SF guarantees anyone "street cred" of any kind. OP is a moron making a problem seem like a criminal underworld.

The police would put someone in jail with a quickness for tazing a street shitter but they won't do anything when the street shitter shits on the street.

Thats also an effect of gentrification, the rent goes up and nobody can afford it so it stays empty or businesses open and last for a few months before shutting down
Its a big problem in my neighborhood

Yes. The idea is to reverse that situation. The cleanup crew operates under the supervision of the police, with authorization to use force against defecating on the street.

Not trying to be mean, but moral liability won't make you go bankrupt or go to prison. It is a real thing to consider

It's just the moral bankruptcy of standing by while capitalism happens to the lowest common denominator. Sometimes it causes bad heart feelings in some people. Weak people. Awful people. We sometimes make fun of those people who feel bad and call them names like "liberal" while they cry about people losing homes that they've lived in for decades.
Fuck weak people. We need fighters in this war. You need to remain brave and cheer families being kicked out of homes and neighborhoods that they've lived in for years because... Google!
