Topic: The Mormon God has changed His mind again about the gays, LDS church reveals
beckyderp !TInYDicKMI started this discussion 7 years ago#85,727
Mormon God decided in November 2015 that gay marriage is apostasy and that the children of gays couldn't be baptized into the church. The current prophet, then an apostle, declared the change to be revelation of God, confirmed to each of the apostles, in January 2016. Now it's just a "policy change" to fix some misunderstanding, I guess.

Do you agree that rules against gays by the major religions has been the reason gays are only just being accepted now, in some parts of the world, after thousands of years?

Do you believe that "Every religion has rules against gays" is a true statement?

Mormon God will probably have to change his mind about a lot of stuff if the LDS wants to keep being relevant to young people. I like to imagine three Nephites out there shrugging at each other and saying, "Really? First blacks and now this? He couldn't have said that all along?"

Do you think therefore that even considering becoming/staying religious is therefore a deeply immoral act?

I think the Mormons were forced into being more inclusive towards gays and lesbians when they really weren't even considering it, much less talk about it. It's just like when the federal government was going to declassify them as a religion and have them lose their tax free benefits that comes from being classified as such. They were going to do that to them if they didn't grant African Americans the same benefits/equality in their religion as white Americans.
The whole "being more good" experience is tainted when it's forced upon you through punishment.

I never "lecture". I merely correct uninformed viewpoints. It's my belief that if one intends to speak with authority on a subject, one has a duty to have at least a basic grasp of the issue under discussion; something detractors of the Catholic Church have consistently shown themselves to lack.
