Mean Rip currents at momento so water temp varies from 64 to 67 and water just north of Surf area is loaded with kiddlets and eye candy girls in bikinis so Nips are so pointy they may break through material re chill of water which does NOT show on faces. 5:30am to 8:30 am I was in my wet suit but will go without wet suit around 2PM You can see a quick video cam view with camera switched over to my balcony until 12:45PM PST

This place is just an amazing 3-hour drive from my apartment! The mountain pass is only 1700 feet above sea level, too, so it's accessible year round and the winter storms are epic :D

I did NOT pay attention to location till now. Turns out I have been on that beach more then once. Coos bay for two weeks North on one trip and the next year it was Coos bay all the way to border of Or Wa.
Great memories and have done this trip several more tymes with friends. Led it for a national trip (unexpected last minute) for an environmental organization.
With tide tables in hand and light loaded back packs because as you know there are stores up along the 101 Hwy and no need to carry much provisions as one can just go hike up to the Hwy and buy for a day in advance each tyme for the most part.
On first trip I led about 12 others including a 9 year old who did just super and trip per day was 8-9 miles per day for 7 days from Coos bay with beach camping on low tides and Red woods and blackberries on Bluffs on top. July/August tyme frame.
That trip one evening we hit a store for dinner stuff and went down to beach for a low tide overnight and morning depart b4 tide rolled in forcing us up a bit. So we get down to beach to set up camp and the tide was Super low and rocks with Mussels and Starfish all over the Mussels. Red/Green/Blue/Starfish - Damn it was just one amazing site to behold.
So I grab my pot and hit the rocks and pulled my share of Mussels off. Cooked them up with everyone else going yuck yuck, are you really going to eat those? 9 year old wanted to try. Me at 9 no way. Kid raved about how good they were and then others tried and soon everyone put away steaks and whatever they bought for dinner and it was hour after hour of cooking up the creatures. I feared problems re digestion and hit my sleeping bag a bit worried.
In AM on wake up people were upset cause Tide had moved up and covered the rocks and they wanted more creatures for breakfast.
My beach is fantastic and Bluffs are nice with Torrey pines but they are NOT Redwoods and no Blackberries or lush forest as you have in Oregon. Lush wayyyyyyyyy North of me on 101 Hwy as in 100's of miles.

That's likely a bird. It's windy out here at the end of a large sand spit. The birds fly with their wings tucked in a bit for stability and control.

Took a fast look at the map but am rushing like crazy this PM to get some work done so one wacko Satellite does NOT get in my way for fun Evening planned for Holiday. Very little net tyme 2Play.
Loved my ventures in Oregon and for a short tyme I worked 1/2 week in Vancouver Ca and the other 1/2 was Bellingham(sp?) Wa and many road trips through Oregon plus when married I had a sister in law who lived there and I think she still does on coast.
Will add that yesterday I saw more dogs in the ocean and on kayaks and paddle boards all at the same tyme in same place and about 7 or 8 with dogs on shore staring and figuring out if they could join the dog party. I figure someone shot a pic and will look for it on web later

I am a Beach Mountains Forest person. Love the desert but its a mental block thing. I have to be in the desert to remember how great it is or can be NOT in peak heat lol - currently the desert wayyyyyyy East of me about 2 hours drive is going to be over 110 and even a chance of thunderstorms and the heat at the same tyme.

Bellingham is a nice old town by the coast! A close family friend who would often join us on these beach trips had lived up there. She died of cancer in ~2005, though.

I took on a VP of Engineering gig with a large electronics company in Bellingham, after escaping from a Gov 3Letter agency and the company was/is owned by a Canadian, with operations in US and Canada. So a Real Estate gal gave me the grand tour of Bellingham one weekend to give me options of where to buy a home. However the views of Water were way to much lumber floating and scum and when I drove into the town on my way I passed some incredible looking places up in the hills and decided that was what I wanted.
Discovered some very nasty goings on re company and fraud that I was supposed to help with and said byyyyyyyyyy lol - Owner and partner did get busted by Feds later, not that in long run it hurt the owners at all. Product was also too pedestrian for my tastes.
Loved the Vancouver part the most re nightlife and food the Chinese food was next best to San Francisco. And the Sea food of course. Did a tour of the Bellingham oyster farms and sampled and sampled week after week my fill of some GREAT Oysters. Skiing out of Vancouver is also fucking WORLD Class.
