Topic: Have you ever done a hit and run?

Even with a minor scrape or something?

I have (really really minor damage in a parking garage) and I still feel awful about it 10 years later. Horrible thing to do. :(

Once I did that...and the cops called my house..
The other party was really pissy about it but all it was that I had slightly backed into their vehicle in a parking lot..

As it was a tiny scratch I was held unaccountable..

You couldn't really tell any damage had occurred...it was like a tiny fleck of paint had been gouged..

I've bumped a car in a parking lot with no visible damage and then decided to leave. Not really a hit a run so much as not wanting to get arrested for strangling some douche who started trying to pretend I'm responsible for every nick and scratch on his car and every engine problem and worry he ever has for the rest of his life. (He worked nearby, and I'd seen him get worked up about shit like that before.) I feel like a really did him a service that day.

On the flip side, I hit a point with an old car for a few years where I didn't really care about minor dings and scrapes because I was just driving it until it died anyway. People would bump me or push shopping carts into it, and I would shrug and tell them not to worry too much. One guy insisted on exchanging insurance information after brushing my bumper while he was backing out. He insisted like I was trying to trick him into committing a hit and run or something.

I opened a door into another car and we drove away and parked elsewhere

This. I left a nasty looking dent on their door

I once ploughed into a minivan on the highway and killed a family of five, then sped off. I got away with it too!

Did fats fergerson stick around to watch the family of five burn to death before driving on in a car filled with his girlfriend's sobs?

This is my car ?

I used to feel sad about driving a beat up car with rusty steel wheels and paint scratched and faded to hell but now I love it. I'm free. I never have to worry about any kind of cosmetic damage because it's already dented and the windshield is cracked. I leave my car unlocked all the time because what are they going to steal?

I haven't washed my car since 2015. It's full of trash up to the windows.

Honestly, this is the magic point.

This is the piece of your life you don't give a shit about. It's nice isn't it? It's amazing. It's freeing. It's just a fun piece of reality when you let it all go. You just leave any worry at the doorstep. You can't hurt me.

I used to park too close to asshats in preppy county CA and just dare them to hit my car and risk damaging theirs. Fun times.
