Why who needs it. That is what an education is for.

how about livable wages instead of incentive for businesses to pay their employees even less

Socialism has proven itself in Venezuela and Cuba. Free money for anyone who wants it, is the outcome of people smoking crack or politicians looking to give out metaphorical blow jobs.

Did they have a basic income or just a corrupt government?

Fun fact: it would only cost a 175 billion to get everyone in the US over the poverty line.
Not implementing basic income is wasting human and economic potential. Thanks.

Wait what. USA National Debt is fucking bleeding the life out of USA as it is. You want to run a program that hunts out every family below the poverty line and brings them right up to it. Such a program would effectively involve imposing a 100% marginal tax rate for all income made below the poverty line. Then expansion of a Negative Income tax.
It is true much of our poverty is the result of importation of Slaves and the continuation of sloppy 2nds education of black children from single family homes. Sure might be nice to find a simple solution like printing more money to solve society problems. Perhaps I could invest in printing presses.

no one is talking about printing money. you could cut military spending 25% and pay for it or stop tax havens etc

Cut military spending by 25% -
1: Where I live the largest employer is US Military. Why do you want to devastate where I live. There are even poor people who live 30 miles away or so and that will hurt them.
2: USA has in past had to help out weak Eu territories such as Netherlands and Britain.
3: Keep your hands off of my tax havens.
4: Leave my etc alone. I work damn hard for my etc's.

Child poverty is considered to be a big problem in the Netherlands. The government believes actions need to be taken to fight against child poverty and children should be given a greater voice and should be directly involved in policy-making. Local authorities are responsible for considering children’s opinions. However, only five percent of the local authorities actually involve children in the process.
The unemployment rate in the Netherlands in 2016 is about six percent of the population, ranking them 72nd in the world, while the United States ranks 53rd with a rate of 4.7 percent.
The wealthiest 10 percent of the population in the Netherlands control about 24.9 percent of the whole country’s wealth. On the other hand, the poorest 10 percent of the population only control 2.3 percent of the country’s wealth.
Why pick on USA when You may be closer to a place where you could simply solve a problem.
