There are people even buying record players and others who are pressing new vinyl records. Soon someone will take a Electric car battery pack and use it to turn water into steam to power a car.

What would the point be? Optical media is dead.

lol that is what they said about Vinyl.
Brand new 5G systems use Optical media for the Weekly OS updates. Reason has to do with security - Details might get me into trouble explaining the why.

because record players have a unique sound blu-ray is the exact same quality as a digitally delivered copy

BC my laptop doesn't have an internal drive available. Optical media still offers a nice non-cloud back up solution, with less risk of of losing data due to storage failure.

I'd just go with flash drives myself. Or an external hard drive.

I'm surprised hipsters aren't claiming digital audio sounds "warmer" and "richer" when played from an optical disc.

the unique sound of record players is "scratchy", while pressed discs are durable physical objects that you can return to without paying again, or rely on a third party in some way

Why don't they make USB record players ?

I got stuff to do. I have exactly what you are looking for and the only reason I keep it - cause I have a huge bin full of CD's and even though all of them are on sticks and MP-3 sd's and a computer - Just in case I keep the BRD RW and maybe in a few years will discard the bin and hardware - Just feels good to have them around for now

yeah I like the albums large cover art for the sake of large art, though it takes up more space when you get hundreds or thousands of the fuckin things. I do have a collection of vinyl but I don't play them because either the player I have is bad or the arm isn't angled just right or I've had bad luck with shitty pressings that sounds almost screechy on the high frequencies -- fucking finicky format
as for the hard drive idea, I would use that as a backup, not a primary storage. Also, I like discrete objects. For simple casual listening, youtube has more than I could ever finish listening to already. Some stuff I want to own, and I rather pay for objects than files or access to remote files.
