I only wish that voice recognition software dealt with speech impediments like Rhotacism. It can be such a bitch getting it to say “r” sounds.

I knew a kid in school who sounded like he had a New York accent because he tripped with a tinkertoy in his mouth as a little kid and it got lodged in his throat and fucked up his vocal cords somehow. I don’t have that much of a problem. It’s only a few certain words and even then they still get what I am trying to say most of the time.

I think you can set the language to UK English or Australian English if you have trouble with R sounds.

Larn a Asian language just enough but get the accent spot on. They never get R's correct so you will sound very normal as you speak English with Asian accent.

That's actually a pretty good idea. Since I read up about Rhotacism and it did say people with it often get confused for having accents. Mostly English. I know I have, but I also been asked if I were German.

I wish I could do voice typing/Siri/Cortana/OK Google. I tried it once and it just weirds me out. I just feel stupid talking to a computer. I talk to humans and I type to computers. There's a definite human/machine divide in my mind and Alexa is on the wrong side of it.
Of course if I had some visual impairment I'd probably appreciate these voice technologies a lot more.
