Topic: Everyone at school seems to have a Chromebook.

This is making me think if Chromebooks could rightfully be called the new ThinkPads. I see more students with Chromebooks than I do ThinkPads nowadays.
I think some universities give them out to students who qualify for them too.
You prove me wrong, or did you sit around Mommy's house all day? There are illegal immigrants who went to work, and paid taxes today.

It's probably more to do with cost than quality. Chromebooks are like $200 or less now and ThinkPads start at about $500. ThinkPad is better and more durable, but you could buy 2.5 Chromebooks for one ThinkPad. The ThinkPad is really more of a corporate/business laptop and I don't recall seeing any in college. They certainly weren't popular.
Chromebooks are really maturing now and the ability to work offline has improved. I remember when they came out I thought the idea of a computer that literally only runs the Chrome browser was kind of scary. What if you went somewhere with no (or bad) WiFi and then it was useless because none of your web apps would load? It's not commonly known, but when the iPhone came out it didn't have an app store. Steve Jobs' vision was that people would build web apps that would work in the iPhone browser and the internet would be your "app store". That concept was really ahead of its time in 2007 I think but today that would actually work.
I'm still kind of astounded that the web browser pretty much took over the desktop. Apart from games, I spend probably 99% of my time computing using a web browser. I could do the vast majority of my computing in ChromeOS. I bought a Windows laptop myself earlier this month because I'm part of the older generation and still uncomfortable with going "full Chrome". I run Firefox myself (I know it hasn't been the best since like 2006 but there is a theme I really like for Firefox that isn't available for other web browsers and I'm too lazy to figure out how to convert it).

There is something that Firefox does that used to make it my go2 browser and will return to it soon - Nor can I get that item from other browsers except for Microsoft Edge and Edge is going by by soon with the conversion over to Chrome so - anyway Ya Firefox

The magnet schools and ECHS programs do the majority of their homework through Chromebook here. Yes, they give them to the students to use for free. They have to return it at year end, tho.

@previous (C)
And what's the deal with magnet schools? They're not made out of magnets!

Chromebooks are great for the money. Dual boot linux add a flash drive and you're good to go.
